PODCAST: Divinity1

To some people, the idea of Yeshua's divinity was probably something developed late. It must have involved a departure from Jewish thought. It must have been the result of syncretism, mixing pagan notions with the original understanding of Yeshua as a Jewish teacher or as Messiah. But what is the real explanation for the origin the idea of Yeshua's divinity?

  1. Abraham's Kushite ancestors believed the Edenic Promise (Gen. 3:15) made concerning one of their women that the divine "Seed" would be born of their ruler-priest lines. Jesus claimed to be this Seed when He spoke of his death; "unless a seed falls to the ground and dies it cannot have life."

Alice, you've got me interested. How do we know what Abraham's "Kushite ancestor's" believed? And how do we know Abraham has Kushite ancestors?

The very idea that Jesus "has been given authority" subjects the Son of Man to the Father, who is the one who bestows the authority on Jesus prior to his offering himself as the ransom sacrifice for forgiveness of sins. The statements of Jesus are consistent in that he is not God, nor God/Man. Of course this means Jesus is not the Father or some mysterious Trinity, as he states but shares qualities and powers as a regal son would to his monarch father. And the father is not threatened or diminished.
